DigiFDK is a Cone Beam reconstruction software.

The program executes a 3D reconstruction of a scanned volume by processing projections which have been acquired as either X-Ray or optical 2D images. The program is based on Feldkamp's and ART’s algorithms.

It provides high-performance, accuracy, and flexibility to run on your PC. It directly replaces other hardware-accelerated versions currently on the market. DigiFDK can either run on a single PC, or on several networked PC.

It is adaptable on any existing environment and uses all the data-processing capacities in an optimal way. The time of reconstruction is optimized, it is moreover possible to set up reconstruction parameters in order to fit reconstruction time to requests.

Recommended configuration
Pentium 3, Pentium 4 or Athlon Processor RAM 512 Mo minimum, 2 Go recommended 2048x2048x2048 can be performed on a pentium 4, 2Ghz, 512 Mo RAM !!!

Functionnalities

From a set of serial X-Ray radiographic images, DigiFDK reconstructs volume to get all transversal sections of the scanned object or a pre-selected part of it.

The program is able to use the most common image formats and allows the conversion of their size. The reconstructed images can be obtained by selection in a large range of resolution value (from less than 256x256x256 pixels to 2048x2048x2048 pixels).

The reconstruction parameters can be filled manually into the program :

  • Geometrical data of the Computed Tomograph system (source position, object position…)
  • The acquisition method (simple rotation, rotation and translation, helicoidal movement) and the step of acquisition process in degrees
  • The detector (automatic presetting)
  • Resolution of the reconstructed images

It is possible to choose the suitable reconstruction’s algorithm among a set of powerful programs. You can select the types of filtering to be applied for an optimal result.

Assets and characteristics

  • The reconstruction time is optimized compared to the existing applications thanks to implicit use of optimal computer capacities
  • Works on a basic PC
  • The reconstructed images can be systematically compressed, which strongly reduces the volume of data storage
  • The use of DigiFDK is easy and intuitive; the software interface is highly simplified
  • It is possible to dispatch the reconstruction data-processing work on several computer in parallel to reduce reconstruction time
  • Compatibility with standard file formats
  • DigiFDK uses the same interface as DigiCal and DigiObs
